Decoding Maytag Dishwasher Error Codes: E2 and F2

Maytag dishwashers are made to handle regular use and relieve you of one of the most dreaded household chores of all. Of course, there comes a time in every appliance’s life when an error or fault occurs. Fortunately, some of these errors are easy to fix and don’t require any serious disassembly or the replacement of parts. If you notice E2 and F2 flashing on your Maytag dishwasher display, continue reading to find out what this means and a possible quick fix.

Maytag Dishwasher F2 E2 Error Code Meaning

If this code appears on your dishwasher display, it means that there is a communication failure between the electronic control and the touchpad. Since there are several components involved, there could be a number of factors at play.

Maytag Dishwasher F2 E2 Error Code Solution

The first step is to try cycling the power to the control. This will reset your dishwasher and hopefully resolve the problem. In order to do this, you will need to disconnect your dishwasher from the power source for one minute. In other words, simply unplug the appliance and wait for a minute before plugging it back in. If you are not able to reach the plug or if your dishwasher is hard-wired to your household power supply, then you will need to turn off the breaker at your home electrical panel. You do not need to turn off your entire home power supply; only the one that powers your dishwasher. Wait for one minute and turn it back on.

If this does not work, then it will be necessary to check the physical connections between the electronic control panel and touchpad. If the connections are good, a voltage check with a meter should be done. Finally, if none of these solutions or tests reveal the source of the problem, it could be more serious and you might need to have the electronic control and/or touchpad replaced.

When to call a technician

Over the past few years, home appliances have become increasingly intricate and more dependent on electronic components. This makes them that much more complex and difficult to repair since the faults are most likely due to electric or electronic faults. Resetting the power is safe enough for anyone to do without any technical experience. It’s worth a try before calling a professional. If this does not solve the problem, a qualified, experienced and licensed technician should be called. Attempting complex or delicate appliance repairs can result in even more serious damage.
