Have you noticed a puddle of water on the floor every time you put a wash on? If your washer is leaking, it is dangerous to use. You need to get it fixed before you slip on the wet floor or worse, get electrocuted!
Fixing a leak can be difficult because the source of the leak may not be where the problem is. Thankfully, we can offer advice and solutions so that you can use your washer safely.
Our technicians offer a wealth of advice on why your washer is leaking water. Here are some common reasons to see if you can solve the problem yourself before calling an expert.
If there is water leaking out the front of the washer, there is probably something wrong with the door seal. Disconnect your washing machine from the power supply and inspect the seal around the door. Often you’ll find a build-up of soap or dirt which can be cleaned off with warm water. This will help your door properly seal shut.
There may also be tears in the rubber seal. If so, you’ll need to buy and fit a replacement seal so that the seal is water-tight. Be careful when inspecting your door seal as sharp objects can sometimes get wedged inside the folds.
Your washer may also be leaking due to a broken water inlet valve. This part of the machine controls the volume of water entering the washer during its cycle.
After disconnecting the washer from its power source, look for the water inlet valve behind the main hose connections and remove it from the appliance. Clean the valve with warm water to remove any detergent build-up and look for any signs of permanent damage like cracks. If you see any, you’ll need to get a new water inlet valve installed to fix your leaking machine.
